Pretty sure there isn't any other method of managing sounds.
You shouldn't need a new main board, just a competent service tech that can replace the few USB interface components or worse case the I/O chip that handles the USB I/O.
I already personally did a board level repair on my NS3 leslie speed switch circuit that died (the shipping cost more than the parts and was still less than $15 components+shipping)
